Object & Activities :

Manufactures of air and gas compressors and pneumatic portable tools like grinders demolition tools, pumps vibrators, rammers hammers, etc.

The Comp. was incorporated as a private limited Comp. in 1957. In June 1961 it become a public limited company. It commenced manufacturing operation in 1957 at its plant in Mulund Bombay. In 1971 another manufacturing plant was started in the MIDC industrial area at Satpur Nasik, Maharashtra. The Comp. products are marketed under the brand name 'Power Vane' and 'CP'. Chicago Pneumatic Holdings limited U.K. [CPHs], a wholly owned subsidiary of Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company, U.S.A., held 63.8% of Comp. equity share till Nov 1984 upon the issue of share during November 1984, the non-resident share holding of Chicago Pnematic Holding Ltd, U.K. was reduced to 40%. As a result it ceased to be a subsidiary of CPH and become an Indian Comp. .

Foreign Collaboration :

The Comp. entered into a technical collaboration agreement with Fires Coil Babcock, France for manufacture of Balanced opposed compressor.

A technical collaboration agreement was also concluded with Hokuetsu Industries Co. Ltd., Japan, for manufacture of latest technology twin screw compressors at Halol, Gujarat.

Trade Mark :

Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company, New York, the original ultimate parent company, has granted to the Comp. a right to use its trade marks of 'Power Vane consolidated Pneumatic', `CP in circles', `hicycle', `Uniloy', `CP and Hushed Power' in India.

100% Export Oriented Unit :

During 1989-90 the Comp. undertook to set up 100% export oriented under [EOUs], Nasik for manufacture of 4000 numbers per annum, demolition tools from CP-USA and also allow optional utilisation of existing facilities and resources of company.
